Valuable championship points gained at Oulton Park

The team headed to Oulton Park for the first round of the 2026 season, with a new setup and the determination to get some championship points on the board.

Racing Director Eddie Roberts commented: “As we start a new season, I would like to welcome on board new sponsors Choho, YSW, MFZ, AIS Resources and Hemingway Kits, and returning sponsors Charterhouse Auctioneers & Valuers, GB Racing and Motul Oils. As always, your
support is greatly appreciated by the entire team and we hope to do you proud as the season progresses.”

This is Davie’s second year with the CFMOTO team in the Sportbike class, following a development season in 2025. Free practice sessions at Oulton Park saw him working hard and maintaining steady lap times ahead of qualifying.

Willis is a newcomer to the class and is still adjusting to the bigger bike. Throughout the practice sessions he continued to learn the bike and refine his riding style, resulting in steady progress throughout the weekend.

Both riders made similar strides in the qualifying session, with Davie qualifying in 9th position (3rd row of the grid) and Willis slightly further back in 21st out of a total of 43 riders. This put both riders in a strong position going into the first race of the 2026 season.

With a grid of 40 riders, the first race of the season was always going to be a challenge, with each team quickly learning the strengths and weaknesses of the competition. Race one saw Davie cross the line in 8th and Willis in 15th.

An exciting second race on Sunday afternoon saw Davie battling with Durham and Best in the final laps, just missing out on 5th place at the line.

Davie commented: “It felt great to get back to race mode at the weekend – two decent results across both races at Oulton, but still a little bit of work to do to get to where we want to be.”

Willis also had his own battles throughout the second race, with the likes of Beach and Smart-Weeden, coming home in a respectable 15th position.

Willis commented: “Happy to come away with points in both races. It’s been a steep learning curve, but we kept progressing all weekend and there are plenty of positives to take into Donington Park next round.”

Overall, the first round of the season was a success for the team, with both riders securing valuable championship points. As we look ahead to round two at Donington Park next week, both riders and team are feeling positive, sitting 7th and 18th on the leaderboard.
