CFMOTO strengthens commitment to deer conservation with DSC1 training

Supporting responsible deer management

As part of CFMOTO’s partnership with the British Deer Society, our commitment to responsible deer management and deer conservation has continued to grow.

Harry Hinkley, Director of Quadzilla Ltd and UK importer of CFMOTO, recently travelled to Scotland to undertake his Deer Stalking Certificate Level 1 (DSC1) qualification. For anyone involved in deer management, DSC1 is a recognised and respected benchmark that underpins safe, ethical and sustainable practice in the UK countryside.

What does DSC1 involve?

DSC1 is designed to give candidates a solid foundation in deer knowledge and best practice. The course covers:

  • Identification of all UK deer species
  • Deer behaviour and habitat awareness
  • Firearms safety and current legislation
  • Deer welfare and ethical shot placement
  • Principles of sustainable deer management

It combines theory and assessment and is widely regarded as essential for anyone serious about deer stalking or conservation focused land management.

Since undertaking the DSC1 course, Harry has continued to build on his skills through regular, controlled rifle practice at home. He has invested in a muntjac target supplied by UK based company, Tom’s Targets, allowing him to practise shot placement and accuracy in a safe and responsible way.

Some of the photographs here show Harry using the CFMOTO U10 Pro Highland around the ground while setting up and practising with the target. It is a practical, real-world example of how utility vehicles play an important role in modern countryside management, offering safe access and capability across mixed terrain without fuss.
