Moto Twelve National Sportbike Championship R7 Race Report
Conquering the mountain at Cadwell
The team headed to the Cadwell Park and it’s famous mountain for the seventh round of the 2025 National Sportbike Championship.
Weather for the weekend was looking to be dry with warm track conditions, similar to the previous round. The first free practice session of the weekend proved challenging to make progress with 2 red flags within the 30 minute period. Despite this, Nixon and Davie made good progress throughout with respectable lap times. The second practice session saw better times for both riders, with combined result of Nixon in 6th and Davie in 12th overall.
The team made some minor changes to the bike ahead of qualifying on Sunday morning and went in to the session feeling positive for a good result. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the track and having limited opportunities to pass other riders, the team didn’t have their strongest qualifying session of the season, resulting in Nixon in 10th and Davie 18th on the grid for the only race of the weekend. With that said, the team learned from this and were still pleased with the progress being made over the weekend, resulting in big changes being made to both bikes ahead of warm up on Monday.
Cadwell Park saw sunshine, warm temperatures and incredible crowds on the Bank Holiday Monday, in preparation for the Sportbike race.
Both riders were feeling positive that they could progress from their starting positions and they did not disappoint. Nixon and Davie both got off to an incredible start making up multiple places in the first lap alone. As the race progressed Nixon and Davie held their own battling within the top ten riders on the track, finishing in 6th and 9th place.
Nixon commented: “Some good progression was made over the weekend. We still just need some more development time with the CFMOTO 675SR-R and we’ll be there!”
Looking ahead to the next round, the team are positive they can better their results from the previous round at the Midlands circuit and are looking forward to see how far they have come with the development of the bikes.
Davie commented on the weekend: “P9 in Monday’s race – Although we are always looking for more, I’m quite happy given some of the challenges we overcame during the weekend. We made steps all weekend at a track I’m not the biggest fan of. Big thanks to the team for their support!
Just 10 days off until we get to go again at Donington. Looking forward to seeing the true scale of the development that has went into the CFMOTO 675SR-R as we come back to a track we have raced at earlier in the season for the first time.
Eddie Roberts, Racing Director comments: “Another positive weekend for the team. First time at Cadwell for the CFMOTO which meant we had no real data to work from. Jacks 6th place doesn’t really tell the story as his lap times were as good or better than the leaders, all down to the grid position and start in a relatively short race. Adon admits Cadwell is not his favourite circuit, that said
he made huge progress in the race.”
